DJ TechTools Chroma USB Drive MK2 512GB – Void Black

DJ TechTools Chroma USB Drive MK2 512GB – USB-A & USB-C DJ Drive in Void Black

The DJ TechTools Chroma USB Drive MK2 512GB Void Black provides dedicated storage for DJs carrying extensive music collections. It combines USB 3.2 memory selected for DJ library transfers with dual USB-A and USB-C connectors, pre-formatted FAT32 storage and a durable zinc-alloy body.

This 512GB Void Black version offers twice the advertised capacity of the 256GB model and four times that of the 128GB version. It gives you more room for tracks, event playlists and exported library information without changing the Chroma Drive MK2’s compact design.

Generous Storage for Extensive DJ Collections

The 512GB capacity suits DJs who maintain a broad collection across multiple genres, prepare music for different venues and events, or want additional room for uncompressed audio files.

Track capacity depends on audio format, track length and file size, alongside the space used by exported library data. Choose your storage around the collection you intend to export, allowing room for future additions and the manufacturer’s recommended free space.

Designed for rekordbox and Engine DJ Exports

A DJ library export involves more than copying music files. Your software also checks and updates playlists, cue points, metadata and track analysis information.

DJ TechTools selected the Chroma Drive’s memory for these numerous smaller-file operations, making it suitable for preparing and updating libraries in rekordbox and Engine DJ. Its USB 3.2 interface supports fast transfers, although actual export times depend on your computer, USB connection, software, library size and the files being updated.

Dual USB-A and USB-C Connectivity

Both USB-A and USB-C connectors are built into the Chroma Drive MK2, allowing direct connection to compatible computers and DJ equipment without a separate connector adapter.

USB-A supports compatible established media players, standalone systems and computers, while USB-C provides convenient connectivity with compatible laptops, mobile devices and newer DJ hardware. DJ TechTools reports testing with Pioneer DJ and Denon DJ all-in-one systems and media players.

Before choosing a 512GB drive for your setup, check your equipment’s supported drive capacities, storage formats, audio formats and library requirements. Prepare your library using the appropriate DJ software before performing.

Pre-Formatted FAT32 for Broad Compatibility

The drive arrives pre-formatted as FAT32 for broad DJ equipment compatibility, including older players. Equipment-specific capacity and library limits still apply.

FAT32 has an individual file-size limit of approximately 4GB. The 512GB storage capacity increases the total space available but does not increase this per-file limit.

DJ TechTools recommends leaving 10–15% of the drive free to help avoid library issues. Keep a separate backup of your music collection and exported performance library.

Locking Metal Covers Protect Both Connectors

Each connector sits beneath an attached rotating metal cover that locks into position. Open the end you need while keeping the unused connector protected.

The covers remain attached to the drive, so there is no separate cap to leave behind at a venue or lose inside your equipment bag.

Void Black Finish and Zinc-Alloy Construction

This variant features a Void Black baked paint finish over a zinc-alloy housing, combining an understated appearance with metal construction designed for regular handling and transport.

DJ TechTools describes endurance testing that includes extended DJ sessions, repeated connector insertion and removal, and demanding heat and dust conditions. A built-in keyring loop provides an additional attachment point for carrying the drive.

Protective Case and Lanyard Included

A protective case and lanyard are supplied with the Chroma Drive MK2, giving you practical options for carrying it between home, studio and venues. The drive also includes a one-year manufacturer warranty against manufacturing defects.

Who Is It For?

Ideal for club, mobile and wedding DJs preparing extensive libraries in rekordbox or Engine DJ, particularly those carrying music across multiple genres or using larger audio files. Choose the 512GB Void Black version if you need more storage than the 256GB model provides and your equipment supports this capacity.
